The small picturesque fisherman’s village located at the north-western coast of Sardinia counts 800 inhabitants. The village arose in 1885 when 45 fisherman families were evacuated from the island Asinara so that the kingdom of Italy could build a prison and a hospital for cholera patients on this island.
